I just felled a tree. All by myself. And I did it using a saw that looks a little like a giant emery board. Well, really the tree was a weed, but this was a really big weed. Like, it was taller than my house and the caliper was at least 4”. And it was growing behind some giant shrubs, so I had to crawl into the foliage while leaves and what felt like bugs rained down on my head. Afterwards I had to do my own bug check.
I am Paula Bunion. No! I am Sheena, mighty conqueror of forests!
Have you done something you’re proud of lately?
Writing is like being able to put life into a snow globe. It takes the things that are too big and scary and reduces them into a form that I can put away when I want and look at from a distance. It also takes all that’s good in life and captures it into something I can take out when I want and look at close up and keep forever. It makes the bad things into something I can hold…and the good things into something I can hold onto. Both help so much that I need that little souvenir of life.
I did something similar - cutting back the growth on our arches. It's great, isn't it?? :-)
ReplyDeleteI unloaded a van at a dog event at Purina recently, but when one of our male volunteers loaded up at the end of the day, he whined that he needed a cart. I had NO cart, and just schleped it on my shoulder, trip after trip after trip. I don't know if I was proud; it was more like smugness...
ReplyDeleteI unclogged my kitchen sink today. And diagnosed the problem with my built-in ice-maker yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI have not ventured out into the wild. But I DID make my son chase a hen around the yard three times to wrestle a chicken-breast bone (meant for the dog, who stared at it too long) out of her beak before she became a cannibal.
Nothing to compare with your expedition into the back yard jungle. I took the trash out today. Does that count? *sigh* Sadly, that aligns me more closely with Roseanne than Sheena.
ReplyDeleteI just slew a praying mantis with a phone book. I don't like killing things unless... they land on my head in the dark and scare me into a phone book swatting frenzy. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm always late recently. Just trying to reclaim a bit of my non-life. But thank you for sticking with me. :)

Years ago I used to put up the wooden storm windows, a real chore. Glad those days are over.
ReplyDeleteI started following this blog! ;D
ReplyDeleteJust recently my daughter and I hauled her scooter into a van. So it wasn't by myself, but still.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just...I just....took a nap!
