Thank
you to Grandma’s Goulash for hosting Succinctly Yours, the game in which we are
challenged to use the picture to cut a story to the bare bones at 140 words or
140 characters or under. The bonus word this week was “cherish.”
Grandpa’s
doctor was so slow, Grandpa used to say he would cherish a short wait because
he might otherwise lose his head. Too bad that wasn’t all he lost. 126
While
getting his horse shod, the Headless Horseman fell asleep in the waiting room. The
farrier’s wife couldn’t believe what she found! She cherished pumpkin pie. 138

grandmother pretends she doesn’t know who you are on Halloween. ~Erma Bombeck
Ha-ha. I have often felt like Grandpa in the waiting room. You are so clever.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! I'm betting we've all been there at some point!
DeleteI agree with Linda. Those waiting rooms make people lose their heads all the time. Very clever!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sioux!
DeleteHe has no need to hide his head. It's not like his epidermis is showing.
ReplyDeleteGood one! But he IS about as nekkid as you can get....
DeleteI've felt like him before while waiting to hear back on queries and submissions. lol
ReplyDeleteWish I'd thought of that!
DeleteLOL! You always put a special twist on these micro stories, Tammy.
ReplyDeletePat
Critter Alley
Thanks, Pat. You always say such nice things!
DeleteNot sure if my comment went through, so here it is again. These are great, as always and I also love the quote!
ReplyDeleteI've had problems with my comments going through lately, too. Thanks so much for not only visiting, but keeping at it!
DeleteAs always, I love both! Especially like the Headless Horseman one, but then that's probably because I'm such a fan of the show Sleepy Hollow. The quote is precious too. My grandbaby is being a lion for Halloween. He had to show me his ROAR, and of course, Nana pretended to be scared...!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that quote wonderful? Erma Bombeck had such a way of capturing people in just a few words. I've thought Sleepy Hollow looks like it might be good. Now I'm going to have to watch!
DeleteEnjoyed both of your clever takes on the prompt. My favorite, however, was the title of your post. How apropos!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much...for everything, Grandmas G!
