Writing is like being able to put life into a snow globe. It takes the things that are too big and scary and reduces them into a form that I can put away when I want and look at from a distance. It also takes all that’s good in life and captures it into something I can take out when I want and look at close up and keep forever. It makes the bad things into something I can hold…and the good things into something I can hold onto. Both help so much that I need that little souvenir of life.

Orangutan and the Hound

To my animal-loving friends (which is most people I know), this is a cute video. Jane forwarded it to me in an email today. Thanks, Jane!

  5. No kidding...Linda, I won't drink anything while reading your comments next time to avoid having it come out my nose. I realized I'd forgotten my quote at the end, so hope you don't mind my using your comment! I'm still laughing....

With some of those--like the one with the snake and the mouse, if you've seen those pictures--I worry that the snake's "best friend" will someday go missing and that snake will have a big old bulge in his middle, but not with these two!
