Writing is like being able to put life into a snow globe. It takes the things that are too big and scary and reduces them into a form that I can put away when I want and look at from a distance. It also takes all that’s good in life and captures it into something I can take out when I want and look at close up and keep forever. It makes the bad things into something I can hold…and the good things into something I can hold onto. Both help so much that I need that little souvenir of life.

Voodid It Again

A few months ago, I joked about the voodoo that had apparently been performed on my possessions. My new computer has been the worst, undergoing its third reformat in three months. So please don't take it personally that I haven't been visiting your blogs or blogging much myself. Fortunately the powers that be are getting to the root of the problem, and I hope to be up and running again when my computer gets back.

What's depressing is that it's currently travelling more that I have in years.

But right now, that's okay. In fact, I'd like to say a little thank you to my voodooers. It's provided me with an excuse to work on more publishable work, and I'm finally making headway on the book I started ages ago! Hope you are having a wonderful summer!

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. ~Albert Camus

  1. I'm glad you've got to grips with the gremlins - or at least on friendly terms. Every cloud and all that . . .

    1. I wouldn't say anyone could be friendly with a nasty little creature that attacks - only that something good always seems to overcome it! It's great to see you again, by the way! All of my crashes mean losing blog addresses, and it's easy to get lost in cyberspace.

  2. Tammy--That is great news (about making headway on the book, that is). That novel is dynamite (so far).

  3. Well bless your little soul, you wonderful writer, you! Maybe this is what you are supposed to be writing at this time. I know how miserable computer problems can be. Wishing yours a speedy and final recovery.

  4. Somebody pulled a sticky label tag off your new computer, stuck it to a little cardboard model made out of a soap box, and is jabbing it with pointy paperclips. Voodoo. Not that I know how to do anything like that.

  5. Darn those computers. They tend to go belly up at the most inopportune times.

    1. Pat, that's so true. Although I can't think of too many opportune times for a complete crash...! All I'm saying is back up your work. Then back up some more. :)

  6. Sorry about your computer---mine's been hinky since we changed internet providers, so I sympathize. Your lack of internet access appears to be serendipitous for you, though, since you're using the time for productive pursuits.

  7. Thanks, Lisa. Hope yours works out! I love the word,"hinky," by the way - have to admit I thought you'd made it up till I looked it up on Dictionary.com. I still like it almost as much now that I know you didn't.

  8. That's a bummer about your computer. Mine was on the fritz not too long ago, then the router was having fits of hiccups about every other day.

Oh, and I love your quote.

    Happy summer!
