Writing is like being able to put life into a snow globe. It takes the things that are too big and scary and reduces them into a form that I can put away when I want and look at from a distance. It also takes all that’s good in life and captures it into something I can take out when I want and look at close up and keep forever. It makes the bad things into something I can hold…and the good things into something I can hold onto. Both help so much that I need that little souvenir of life.

Improper Poll: Breakfast of Non-champions

I am sort of known for eating rather unusual things for breakfast. Except during pregnancy, that is, when I actually craved normal breakfast foods at normal breakfast times. So the other day I was sitting at my computer eating Chipotle flavored cashews for breakfast, and it occurred to me that perhaps this might seem odd to a normal person. Am I the only one? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten for breakfast?

  1. I love cold Imo's pizza for breakfast, but I don't think that's so weird. Chipotle cashews, well, why not?

  2. My mother loves spaghetti for breakfast. This is something I tease her about as often as I can. Really, I don't like "regular" breakfast foods at breakfast time either, they're too heavy and sweet in the morning. I prefer breakfast foods at dinner time... ~ K

  3. Subway sandwiches - and not the breakfast kind! I used to crave them when I was pregnant and they were one of the few things I could actually keep down. My favorite is the Spicy Italian with onion, green pepper and black olives.

  4. There's the infamous cold pizza, but I'm sure everyone has done that. Used to always down a Diet Coke for breakfast, too!

  5. When I was a kid, traveling with my parents on vacation, we'd always stop at Stuckey's. No matter what time of the morning or night (I think) I could get a hamburger with minced onion, and a chocolate malt for breakfast. I don't eat red meat anymore, but the malt STILL sounds delicious.

I've eaten mashed potatoes for breakfast...I've eaten ice cream for breakfast...Now I'm trying to get a better handle on those "awful" things.

I think chipolte cashews is a great breakfast food. They're protein, tasty, and you can munch on them while you're writing...

  6. I like the rest of my taco salad that I had left over from lunch the day before. I crave fiery hot peppers. The capsicum (sp?) gives one a sense of well-being.

  9. I'm sure there's something weird I have eaten for breakfast, but nothing's coming to me... must be because it's late for me. But the chiptolte cashews sound good to me.
