Writing is like being able to put life into a snow globe. It takes the things that are too big and scary and reduces them into a form that I can put away when I want and look at from a distance. It also takes all that’s good in life and captures it into something I can take out when I want and look at close up and keep forever. It makes the bad things into something I can hold…and the good things into something I can hold onto. Both help so much that I need that little souvenir of life.

Okay, Now Snow Sucks

So much for the poetic waxing. Enough already.

Overheard from 10th grade girl: "Oh, eewww! I'm never letting my parents mess with my stuff again. They, like, gave me a morgue pen." (Then reads name of funeral home on her pen.)

  2. Thanks, Linda, but you were right--this snow thing gets old!

  3. So funny! Glad the snow is finally melting! I got commended yesterday by our repairman, for having no snow and ice on my front walk. Dare I take credit for my husband's shoveling?

  4. Too Funny! I was just thinking yesterday, as I was driving home from errands, that the snow is in that ugly stage now. It morphed from beautiful winter wonderland into slushy, dirty, piles of stuff that look like coal! Is there any deep meaning in that....like getting a lump of coal in your Xmas stocking?

  5. I think you should take credit for the snow melting in the first place--what the heck!

And Becky, I like that idea of black slush being the modern-day lump of coal. Ewww!
